Central to our approach is the first voice-based biomarker for ADHD, which is both simple to use and an objective support to diagnosis. It uses complex feature engineering based on knowledge from quantitative musicology. We combine hundreds of unique, partly patented sound features from seven musical domains: Rhythm, Timbre, Articulation, Harmony, Tempo, Loudness, Melody.
Speaking uses more motor fibers than any other body activity, forming up to 30 phonetic segments per second. It underlies the intricate modulation and qualities of sound signals. Thereby, voice conveys information on multiple levels, such as volume, pitch, rate, and pause. It reflects how our underlying central nervous system is involved. This includes networks and structures known to be affected in ADHD. Speech output is continuously being monitored by proprioceptive and auditory loops. Deficits in speech production, high speed and auditory perception related to differences in working memory and executive functions can be identified in ADHD.
This technology has been clinically validated and tested by one of the largest university hospitals in Europe, Charité.
